Distinguish local memories from online map services.
Local memories
Read and edit memories saved on your device offline, and write or organize entries that do not rely on online map lookups. A fully extracted HTML memory package can be read offline on a computer.
Maps and nearby connections
Map loading, place search and external directions need a connection or the relevant service. Local storage does not make all map features available offline. Group check-ins need a local connection between nearby devices and the required permissions; they are not connection-free transfers.
