Map journal & memory books
Record words, photos, videos and Live Photos. Keep related moments together.
Record one visit, in the amount of detail you want
A memory brings together a date, a place, a single-line title, your writing, and the mood you choose. A short title makes an entry easy to recognize; the body is where the longer story belongs. You can record something small without turning it into a public post.
The app has no account feed or audience to maintain. Entries are stored on your device. Saved content can be read and edited offline, while maps and place lookups may need a connection.
Keep photos and moving moments together
Add photos, videos, and Live Photos through the system media picker. Only content you select is imported. A confirmed camera photo can also become part of an entry. The app stores its own copy of selected attachments; deleting an attachment in the app does not delete the source in your photo library.
Ordinary photos may be compressed during import. Exporting later does not recreate the original photo-library file, so keep that source separately when the original matters to you. Live Photos have paired media files; preserve complete backups and export folders rather than moving individual files out of them.
Add a later thought without losing the original day
You may remember something after the visit: a detail you left out, a new perspective, or a reason a place became important. Add a later thought to the memory rather than forcing everything into its first telling.
A group check-in can include contributions from people who were there. After the session finishes, your copy is independent. Your later additions and edits are not sent back to the group.
Organize memories into books
A trip and a person are useful ways to gather related entries. Memory books help you return to the relevant moments without treating the whole journal as one long list. They are an organizing layer around your memories, not a separate online album shared with other accounts.
You can keep a collection focused: for example, a fictional “Three afternoons by the river” book could hold a handful of visits, while another book gathers memories connected to a fictional travel companion. Choose names and covers that help you recognize the collection later.
Review a period of your life
The review features summarize the entries within a selected period, with trip or person filters where available. Use them to revisit saved places, moods, and memories. A report reflects what you recorded in the app; it is not continuous movement tracking or a complete account of your life.
For a copy beyond the app, export an HTML memory package. For recovery after a new phone or reinstall, keep a full .stopsandstories backup instead. These serve different purposes, explained in Backup versus export.
