How do I restore or check a backup?
Check file type, download status and the replacement notice.
Check the file first
Restoration needs a full .stopsandstories file. Older .lifemap files are supported too. An HTML package ZIP cannot be imported as a full backup. Renaming an extension does not convert the file.
For iCloud Drive files, confirm the download is complete and the file is accessible in Files. Check free device storage. Keep the original and do not edit the backup’s contents manually.
Restoring replaces local data
Follow the restore steps, review the summary and then confirm. Restoration does not merge libraries. Back up anything you need to keep on the target device first.
If it still fails
Note the app version, iOS version, file source and exact error, then contact the developer. You do not need to send private memories or a full backup. If data existed only on a lost device with no copies, it cannot be recovered from a developer server.
